The Licked Hand

The Licked Hand

A young girl spends the night alone at home. Her only companion is her pet dog for company. Before retiring for the night, she ensures that all the doors and windows are locked, except the window in the basement does not close! So she blocks the door shut leading to the basement with a small kitchen drawer.

Having her trusty dog companion who always sleeps under her bed, she gradually falls asleep. During the night she awakens to an intermittent scratching noise coming from within the room! Too afraid to make too much movement and look, she slowly slides her hand down under the bed to caress her dog to ease her mind, in return it licks her fingers and the girl falls back to sleep. Later in the night she reawakens again to a scratching sound, and again she reaches her arm down under the bed to seek comfort from her dog by receiving its licking on her fingers. In the dead of night she awakens a third time to a scratching noise which is now constant, and again she seeks reassurance from her dog by reaching down under the bed, and again her hand is greeted by its licking. She slowly gets out of the bed to investigate the ever increasing scratching noises which she can no longer ignore. It's coming from her wardrobe, there is something in there! She builds up the courage to approach the wardrobe, she clenches her fists in anticipation of the unknown. Suddenly the wardrobe doors fly open! It's her dog! It had some how locked itself in there during the night. The dog darts out of the room. Her relief is short lived as the realisation hits her, what on earth licked her hand and now waits under her bed!
